Former spiritual crosses were discovered in Scandinavia, where they were symbols of the god Thor. In Babylon, a cross embellished with a crescent moon stood for a moon god, while a sun god was represented by an Assyrian cross that exhibited the four directions the sun shines by its corners. Both earthly and celestial states are expressed in Hindu crosses.

The ankh is a cross topped with a loop that was used in early Egyptian religions. It was associated with Maat, the Egyptian goddess of truth. The ankh can be seen in jewelry today and is still a symbol showed by many people.
Since ancient times in Europe, the representation of a human form on a cross has been seen. This was in the beginning a pagan symbol related to crop fertility, but was afterwards seen in Christian crucifixes.
The first practice of a cross in Christianity is thought to be on a mid-5th century Vatican sarcophagus. Today both plain religious crosses and crucifixes are symbols with big meaning to those with Christian beliefs as they stand for the style in which Jesus Christ died.
Crosses can be created of many different materials, including precious metals. They are often worn on chains around the neck as jewelry. They can also be exhibited in the household in the shape of wall plaques or statues. When you meet someone who is wearing or displaying a cross, you will know they treasure their Christianity.
Other Christian religious symbolsWhile the cross may be the most popular symbol of Christianity, there are other long-familiar Christian religious symbols. One that is frequently seen is the fish. Generally pictured as a mere outline, it was to begin with a pagan symbol standing for the Mother Goddess. Other ancient cultures, including the Chinese, the Egyptians, the Romans, the Scandinavians and the Greeks also used the fish to stand for gods in their religions.
The fish symbol was recognized in Christianity by the requirement of consuming fish on Friday, a practice that was ended fairly recently. This custom may have developed from the early Greek worship of the fish goddess, Aphrodite Salacia. Her followers consumed fish on Friday, her hallowed day. Another source of the former Christian fish eating practice may have been the Scandinavian goddess Freya. Her name is the source of the present day name for the sixth day of the week, Friday and fish was eaten in her respect.
Images of angels and saints are other substantial Christian religious symbols. These symbols can be encountered in paintings, sculptures and jewelry. Many people believe that angels and saints can have a confident influence on different aspects of their lives and may pray to them for help.

H R Van Til has very rightly said, “The chief major battle between [conservative] Christianity and modern science is not about a large number of individual facts, but about the principles that control science in its work. The battle today is largely that of the philosophy of science.”

The main point of discontent between the two is that one believes in the existence of God and his role as the creator of all things and creatures on this Earth while the other questions this basic premise of his existence and his contribution towards the creation.

According to one of the thinkers, contemporary Christians are apprehensive about science, especially the study related to the natural world.

Inversely the scientists are also very reluctant to probe more into the religion as they consider it irrelevant to the scientific philosophy. There are different groups of people that interpret the relation between Christian religion and science at various levels. There are many people who disagree about the evolution of humans, other life species, the earth itself as well as the universe. Probably this happens because their primary beliefs are built upon different premises. This in result leads to different conclusions.

There can be broadly three categories of people who give thought over this matter and they can be classified as:

Orthodox Conservative Christians are the firm believers in the accuracy of the Bible. They believe that there can be no errors in it when it is literally interpreted except in some cases when symbolic meaning is intended to be included. Therefore, when the Bible speaks about different subjects like geology, cosmology, astronomy, medicine etc., the followers automatically believe it to be perfect. They are of the firm belief that the creators of the holy Book were inspired by the God himself in order to avoid all falsehood. They strongly believe that all the miracles and naturally occurring instances have happened for real. If they try to question these events then they might be questioning the very premise of God which would lead to the falsification of the book. The Bible cannot be falsified in any case as it is by its very definition true.

Liberal Christians are of the belief that the authors of the Bible lived in a pre-scientific age and are believers of spiritual truths. They also feel that the writers have extensively borrowed concepts from the earlier religious writings of the Pagan communities residing around them. When the authors mentioned about animals talking, the still sun, evil spirits, flooding of the world and a flat earth; they were merely reflecting the primitive level of scientific knowledge that was prevalent in their society. According to these people, the Bible is more of a spiritual book rather than a scientific textbook.

The third group of people i.e. the scientists starts their work from the hypothesis that all things that happen are a result of purely natural processes. They are more inclined to use the scientific method to discover new insights in to the workings of nature. Many of the scientists believe in the existence of God but they are unable to relate to his role in the universe and the things that he is supposed to have been doing. They believe that He does not intrude upon the natural laws. This group feels that miracles are not common and on the other extreme they do not happen at all. Unless they are scholars of the Bible, they rarely feel the need to refer to the holy book for scientific research.

Thus, there is always a debate going on between the followers of Christianity and the people who have a rather neutral and non-religious outlook towards the creation and the Earth at large.

If your church is small and it doesn’t offer a weekly bible study, you can study about the bible with the people that you love most right in your home. You can all support each other in developing your faith and knowledge together. Instructions Step 1
Gather your family together on a night that you all can have a “family meeting.” Begin by writing out a schedule that will correspond with everybody’s day. Find out which day would be the best time for everybody to meet for bible study.
Step 2
Choose a time where everybody would be together at once, such as after dinner. Create a setting at your table that has some bibles, and a few light snacks along with some drinks as well.
Step 3
Research some topics that you can discuss at your bible studies. Talk with your minister on some topics that might be good for your family to study. Also browse the internet for any topics that you could discuss too. Be sure that most will be age appropriate so that everybody in your family can participate together.
Step 4
Assign a leader for each week of your bible study. You can hold your studies from anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or however long you wish to have them. Let everybody take their turn in discussing bible verses and topics they they wish to cover.
Step 5
Enjoy this time with your family as you learn about your faith together. This can help everybody become closer, and perhaps help everyone learn together as well.

01313083347_naomiandruth.jpgA Christian friend, new to the faith and troubled by a foul tongue, asked me to prove that the bible condemned cursing. For the unlearned, this could be a difficult task. The bible does not specifically define what is unclean language. The everyday language of ancient people did not include the common gutter words of modern times. Thus the bible does not speak them by name. In this study of Christian principles, I will briefly address the Christian understanding of unclean language.
 
Before you continue reading, take a moment to prove to yourself through biblical evidence that cursing is a sin.

There was once a woman who authored a book about coming to Christ after living as a witch. An old principle has been made fresh to my soul in my recent labors and observations in the Lord. The word says do not judge or you will be judged. To the measure we judge, we will be judged. It is crucial that we understand and rightly apply such a word.It is, of course, any combination of words that use the name of God in a vain and foolish conduct. Scripture records it in this manner:
 
“And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.  Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain,” (Exodus 20:6-7).
 
Now if this simple commandment is insufficient to convince you that it is foolish and sinful to call upon the name of God in any form other than reverence, consider also the following verse:
 
” For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain,” (Psalm 139:20).
 
Seeing then that those who disrespect the name of God are his enemies, and knowing that light cannot fellowship with darkness, and that we can serve only one master, why do we continue to abide movies that are crafted by God’s enemies? Why do we accept the world’s distain for our Lord?
 
In closing this section, I remind you that the revealed names of God are many, ranging from Adonai to Yahwey-Tsidkenu, and most importantly the name “Jesus”.
 
 
Other Words Clearly Addressed In Scripture
 
The four letter words, as we like to call them, are not so limited in letters yet the description serves this lesson.
 
Some such words merely reflect a natural function of the body. When applied with the right intent, such words, though they may sound crude to the ears, are acceptable language. Yet in scripture, we read words that speak of men who “sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss”, and we understand that this is a form of cursing those men who “sit upon the wall”. For the words are used to shame, to mock, and to provoke.
 
Now days, the word “dung” has a more foul sounding replacement. Yet the principle usage remains the same: in one sense, the word reflects a natural use of the body, in another, it reflects a polluted and unclean corruption of the natural language.
 
There is another sense of using such words that does not involve the direct cursing of a fellow human being. Sometimes such unclean language is merely a part of personal dialect, if dialect it may be called. This will be addressed later as a vain and foolish talk. For now, we move ahead.
 
 
Words That Associate Human Beings To Animals
 
On many occasions, the bible links the enemies of God to the visual image of pigs and dogs.
 
The Jews, thinking themselves better than other races, often used such terms to curse the people of “so-called” lesser nations. In truth, these words speak not arrogances, but rather of a spiritual curse that is upon the wicked of mankind, those who deliberately reject the truths of God. 
 
Though the Jews greatly misused these words, the terms were never intended by God to be lightly applied toward human beings. In the context of use that God purposed, they stress not a lesser human being, but rather they express the incomplete condition of those who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. When the spirit is imperfect, lacking the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, men can be likened unto the lowest of beasts. They have a mind. They have a soul. But they do not have a spirit.
 
Jesus sometimes identified gentiles as “dogs”. Yet he responded to the dogs “so-called” with compassion, seeking always to lead them into the truths of God. Even the most rudimentary study of how our Savior applied these words reveal that he was deliberately bringing attention to the incorrect Jewish application of these terms.
 
 
Words Unclean But Not Clearly Defined In Scripture
 
Concerning unclean words that pervert the natural relationships of men and women, take into account the holy sanctimony of marriage. Even your natural ear rebels against these foul curse words for they make ugly that which is beautiful.
 
You need no scripture to directly address this subject. These words are repulsive to the sealed spirit of a Christian. Whether in the form of an unclean joke, or as a direct assault from the mouth of a foul person, they grieve the indwelling Spirit of God. Even the worst of us cringe when such words are spoken in the presence of our children. Why then do we continue to watch and listen to the things that numb our senses?
 
So that you know that even if the words themselves are not clearly defined in scripture, the concept of the words is plainly addressed. Here is but one of many reproofs from our Lord:
 
“But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience,” (Ephesians 5:3-6).
 
This message has already accumulated many more words that what I had purposed, yet there is so much more that I would like to include. But I will close now. You already have more than sufficient evidence that the use of unclean language is wrong before God. Furthermore, you now have a reasonable definition of what makes up unclean language.

The bride is then welcomed by the best man with a kiss on her hand and gives her a bouquet of flowers. They both then walk up to the place where the priest is standing beside whom the groom stands waiting for her bride-to-be. The best man leaves the bride besides the groom where they face towards the priest. The priest begins the ceremony with wedding hymns and recites reading from the bible, after which he asks separately from the bride and the groom whether they take each other as each others life partner. The couple gives answer in a promise that they take each other as their life partner and exchange their wedding rings and kiss each other and sign on a register and turn around to walk arm-in-arm and leave the church.
After coming out, the bride throws flowers backwards without looking back and whoever catches the bouquet is believed next in line to get married. The couple then sits in the car decorated with flowers and leave for a long drive.
After the marriage, the next occasion is reception party organized by both the families together where they call their relatives, friends and neighbors to bless the newly weds and enjoy music, multi-cuisine food and have a good time. The newly married couple cuts a huge cake and a close family member raise a toast in their honor and the party is carried on with lots of music and dance.

Understanding every passage you read and the meaning it holds for your life can be quite a challenge, however. Rest assured that God has a message for your life with every passage and in every scripture, but it is your job to study the Bible and determine this meaning for yourself. There are many Bible study methods you can use to uncover God’s message to you, find the meaning in his word, and relate it to your life. Here are some tips on developing a method that will work for you. You should read passages and chapters systematically in order to uncover the entire meaning of God’s word as it applies to you. It is easier to study the bible when you build on lessons and allow them to uncover their meaning and build on each other.

It can help to put yourself in the passage you are reading in order to understand its message.  Imagine yourself in the same situation and think about how it would feel to be there and how you would react to the words being said. Putting each passage in your own words is also a great way to understand the message in it. A good Bible study method is to paraphrase each passage by restating it your own words. When you use simple and familiar language it will help you to understand the message contained in the passage.   Writing down your thoughts is another good way to discover the message contained in each passage. Write down your insights and what reflections you have from each passage and create a way to apply these insights into your own life. You can also carry your favorite verse with you on an index card or small paper so that you can read it occasionally throughout the day to remind yourself what lesson you are trying to apply to your life. Scientists find it hard to explain some concepts. Also, religion finds it hard to explain some things. The  students  should  show why the scientists  and religion  find  it  difficulty  to explain  some  concepts in  the  religion  papers. For example, scientists find it difficulty to explain evolution of organisms. Also, religion finds it difficulty to explain occurrence of pain and suffering. The  students  should  ensure  the religion  papers include  the  relevant  features  and  they  are  supported  using  the  relevant  content. According to Cicero, religion came from the word ‘relegare’ which means to go through again and read again. ‘Re’ means again while ‘legere’ means read. However, the modern writers and ancient writers linked the word religion to ‘religare’ which means to bind fast or unite. Taking it from the word origins, religion means binding oneself or meeting the ultimate creator, God. 
Many doctors believe that health does not just mean the physical body alone, but also involves the mind and spirit. There have been numerous studies suggesting that religious people recover better, have longer life and are less likely to be depressed. Since religion involves a belief that someone divine provides things for people, a person who belongs to a religion tends to believe he will get healed when sick and he will survive when challenged. Religion benefits the mental health in a way that it improves the mental well being of a person. Experts say that if you truly believe in your faith, then what you prayed for will most likely come true. There were also cases that a person’s belief helped him fight a disease and get well again which they call the psychological effect in a person. 
Religion benefits relationship as well. Since it involves mingling with other people, religion enhances one’s social aspect and this gives a person so many positive effects. Studies show that when a person eats with friends, he is most likely to feel full and contented. Encouragement from friends also helps a patient get well or a depressed person feel better. Physical contacts like hugs can also aid in healing a person. Physical contacts stimulate the nerves of the body sending signals to the brain; then the brain produces serotonin, the body’s natural anti-depressant and also called the ‘happy hormone.’ 
Other religion benefits for one’s health involve behaviors like good diet and refraining from alcohol and cigarette. People who are surrounded by a religious community also have positive image of oneself, sense of purpose and growth. Religion benefits the lonely people, too. When people lost a loved one or experience misery, they realize some situations are out of their hands and that they have to trust the Lord. Also, religion gives consolation and comfort to those in need making a person stronger in continuing life. 
Religion is also life changing. How many criminals have turned back on their past and embraced God? Religion also shapes artistry and creativity through prayer and music. Participating in choirs and other events enhances a person’s skills. 
Religion is not just a congregation that performs rituals or ceremonies regularly but also a relationship and community where people give and take, forgive and love, share and grow. If you belong to a religion, you may want to get yourself immersed and involved to it because of the many and sometimes unexplainable benefits of it to your health and life.
